the soul.
the personality adelle has fought desperately for every bit of respect she claims. she carries herself with poise and grace, and speaks as carefully as she can. she is known to be a woman who does not reveal much of her life. in her place of work, she is no-nonsense and moves forward without hesitation, allowing her to make difficult decisions on minimal notice.beyond her work she is curious and always seeking out some new thrill. her passion for heights is remedied by cliff diving and tree climbing, and she can often be found studying people at the edge of a crowd. beyond the professional she has a short fuse and knows how to properly hold a grudge, so do take care when crossing her...

cane
as a conjurer, adelle keeps a cane of some type close at hand. although her primary one is almost as tall as she is and was grown from the branch of a walnut tree, she also has several smaller ones she takes with her when she's traveling.
fountain pen
the first present adelle received was a jeweled fountain pen, constructed personally for her. others in the company received similar gifts at the time, and she only uses hers at special occasions. it primarily remains in her desk.
necklaces
adelle has several necklaces that she treasures. the first is made of carefully carved seashells in the shape of celestial bodies like stars and crescent moons. another is a beautiful purple crystal wrapped in wire and worn close to her heart.
dented, round frame glasses
adelle was just a girl of sixteen years when her incident occurred. In her fall, her glasses were damaged. although she's replaced the lenses several times, she has yet to properly have the frames repaired.
the history.
born to a large family of Duskwights deep within the shadows of the Shroud, Adelle was raised to be everything the locals feared she would be. Violent. Cruel. A con-artist and thief. when a debilitating accident in her early teens gave her near permanent brain damage, the youngest of the Hocoleux family was deemed a liability, and her guardianship was given fully to the Conjurer's Guild.for two decades she was unable to retain short term memories. she relied on her daily journals and accounts from those who now cared for her. eventually an excommunicated member of the fane was given her guardianship as his path for forgiveness; should he find a way to cure her, he would be brought back into the guild without hesitation.he subjected the young woman to experimental treatments of all shapes and sizes. although they were ultimately a success, she was left with lasting symptoms. now she is ever in the company of a small, quiet dog with a furiously wagging tail and well trained attention.with her mind restored, she poured her attention into fine tuning her learning. scientific theory, languages, spoken anatomy, flora biology, magick and more consume her waking thoughts. much of her focus is now on life after death, and prying out the secrets one takes to the grave.

gridania the deeper areas of the shroud are her frequent playground. vylbrand adelle rents an apartment in the mists, and has several areas she can be found cliff diving. ishgard since adelle's brother married into a noble house in ishgard, she sometimes travels there to visit with him and his family - including her young neice. she takes the opportunity to visit bookstores in the area. ul'dah adelle owns a house in the goblet. she regularly can be seen gardening in her yard, or walking a small dog through the neighborhoods.
burnt sugar & rum
once upon a time, she did not fear a fireplace.after being burned alive by a dragon during one of her company's contracts, adelle was left with a slight tremor in one hand and scarring curling up her arms. she tends to flinch when presented with open flame, and is often searching for new treatments for long-healed scarring.

madelinne hocoleux is a woman who was feared.since the calamity, and the growing rumors of the death of many of the hocoleux family, such fear has faded. there are still those who see her mother on wanted posters, and as adelle ages she looks more and more like them.
my heart is like an apple tree
adelle likes to play with nature.her work into the study of plants and grafting, splicing and otherwise has led to several interesting species of fungi to pop up around her property. she can often be found discussing local flora with the botanist's guild.
how do i love thee
she's often found alone.adelle's partner lives across the ocean, in a mountain tribe. although they send letters back and forth, it's incredibly rare to see her with anyone. she's known to attend events on her own, and can usually be found at them making quiet conversation with some of the more introverted attendees.

tw: necromancyAdelle has recently learned how to glean information from corpses. Using a mix of magicks, she has learned how to not only breathe life briefly into the dead, but to have each exhale be a secret wrenched from what is left of their minds. The corpses she acquires are from sources unknown to most.

within the shroud, she is not herself.over the cycles, adelle has grown disillusioned with the twelve to the point that she no longer worships them. instead her adoration is for the elementals of the shroud. there are times when her worship of them extends beyond a prayer or two, and she is entirely within their control. run.
